List of forum topicsSubject: Can not update a registry value with the install package created
I ran the install package as an administrator; however, the 'Registry Set Value' or 'Run Application' will not set value.
Please help. I am confused since all that should be needed is running as an admin. Also, the install was built with the run as admin only option enabled.
You can send your .ci project file to info@createinstall.com.
I sent it.
This is strange. I ran a shell Execute in my install script. A command prompt opens with Administrator rights, but it cannot write to the registry. I open up a cmd prompt on my system with admin rights, then it can write to reg key. What is the difference between opening CMD.exe with admin rights in Createfree install file and outside of CI program?
Please advise.
There is automatically redirect to SOFTWARE\WOW6432 for 32-bit applications.
setup.exe is 32-bit application, so you have the redirect.
You can switch off this redirect by checking 'Access a 64-bit key' checkbox in Registry Set Value and Get Value commands. I have sent you the modify project.
Thank you greatly. I am truly happy. I had two issues:
First, I needed to redirect by checking 'Access a 64-bit key' checkbox in Registry Set Value and Get Value commands.
Second, I had quotes around the Subkey entry in Registry - Set Value (i.e. "SOFTWARE\CITRIX\Secure Access Client"). Once I removed the quotes in the Subkey field (i.e. SOFTWARE\CITRIX\Secure Access Client), I was able to update the subkey value.
This was finally understood with the help of the CI Support Team.
Thank You Greatly
