Should I be able to save my projects in the Freeware version? I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything about that.

I can't save. Clicking Save or Save As... does nothing. Even when prompted to save, clicking "Yes" does nothing.

Just wondering if that is intentional or a bug I'm experiencing.

There is not such restriction in Freeware version.
Where do you you save your project file?
For exampe, it is impossible to save file to any subfolder of Program files without administartive rights. Try to save the project to directory like c:\temp.

No, it's not about directory permissions. I'm familiar with those issues.

When I click the save button, or go to Project/Save or Project/Save As... absolutely NOTHING happens. No dialog box comes up. No error occurs. Nothing. Same if the program prompts me to save project "NEW". I click Yes and nothing happens. The prompt box simply closes.

Seems like a bug to me.

Do you create a new project and cannot save it or you cannot save some existing project?
Do you see Select Folder dialog when you click on Save As?

What version of CreateInstall do you use?

I created a new project, put all the options in, etc. and when I went to click save (both the icon and the Project/Save menu option, nothing happened. No dialog. Same with Save As... Then I tried to close the app and a box popped up asking if I wanted to save it. I clicked "Yes" and the box closed and nothing happened, no save dialog. It's like the save dialog box is just not there. The OPEN dialog works, though. But since I have no saved projects, I have nothing to open.

I just downloaded it two days ago from here, 8.7.0. I'm gonna try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if it makes any difference.

OK. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still appeared to have the same problem.

Then I figured it out.

The confusion is that there are two versions of the program that get installed. The Createinstall Free and the Createinstall Assistant.

The "Free" version would still not let me save. The Assistant version DID let me save. Then when I clicked "Createinstall Advanced" it converted that project and opened it in Createinstall Free, which then DID allow me to save.

So, now I'm not aure if it was just my misunderstanding of how it's supposed to work or an actual bug. But I can tell you clicking save and getting NO RESPONSE is kind of disconcerting for a user. So if it WAS my misunderstanding of things, there should be some clarification made to the user.
